Rb Rankings Week 2

Week 1 of the NFL season is in the books, and as expected, some running backs exceeded expectations while others fell flat. It's time to recalibrate our fantasy football running back rankings based on what we learned. This week's rankings reflect performance, upcoming matchups, and injury reports. Remember, these are suggestions, and your specific league context might warrant adjustments.

Top Tier

This group consists of the consistent performers who delivered strong Week 1 performances and have favorable matchups ahead.

  • Christian McCaffrey (San Francisco 49ers): McCaffrey continues to be a workhorse, proving his value even with a crowded backfield. His Week 1 performance solidified his position at the top.

  • Austin Ekeler (Los Angeles Chargers): Ekeler's role in the Chargers' offense remains dominant, making him a must-start in all formats.

  • Bijan Robinson (Atlanta Falcons): Robinson showcased his potential in his NFL debut. While the volume might fluctuate week-to-week, his talent is undeniable, making him a high-value asset.

Tier 2: High Upside

These backs have the potential for big games but come with a bit more risk. Their performance will largely depend on game script and offensive efficiency.

  • Jonathan Taylor (Indianapolis Colts): Taylor's performance was underwhelming in Week 1, raising concerns about his role. However, his talent is undeniable and a bounce-back performance is certainly possible. Monitor his workload closely.

  • Nick Chubb (Cleveland Browns): Chubb is a reliable back, but his production is often tied to the Browns' overall offensive success.

Tier 3: Solid Starters, But With Caveats

This tier includes running backs who are generally good starts, but their value may be less consistent than those in the higher tiers.

  • Saquon Barkley (New York Giants): While Barkley is still a valuable asset, his production can be somewhat volatile, making him a slightly riskier start compared to the elite tier.

  • Tony Pollard (Dallas Cowboys): Pollard's health is always a concern, making him a slightly riskier play despite his high ceiling.

Tier 4: Risky Plays

These running backs have lower floors and should only be considered in deeper leagues or if you're desperate.

  • Javonte Williams (Denver Broncos): Williams is still working his way back from injury, so caution is advised. His workload will likely be managed carefully in the early stages of the season.

  • James Conner (Arizona Cardinals): Conner's performance and the Cardinals' offensive struggles leave him as a high-risk, low-reward option.

Important Note:

These rankings are dynamic and will change weekly. Injuries, matchups, and offensive game plans significantly impact a running back's fantasy production. Always consult updated reports and news before setting your lineup. Good luck this week!
