Im Dating A Dark Summoner

Let's be honest, dating can be a wild ride. But dating someone who summons dark entities? That's a whole new level of "interesting." My friends think I'm crazy, my family's worried sick, and honestly, even I have my doubts sometimes. But here I am, several months into a relationship with someone who, let's just say, has a unique approach to romance.

The First Summoning (and My First Panic Attack)

It started innocently enough. We met at a gothic literature convention – he was dressed as a particularly brooding vampire, I was channeling a Victorian-era ghost hunter. We bonded over Poe and existential dread, which, in retrospect, should have been a warning sign. The first time he summoned something, I thought I was having a heart attack. It wasn't some terrifying demon straight out of a horror movie, thankfully. More like...a very grumpy, vaguely sentient shadow creature that seemed annoyed by the bright lights of his apartment.

Understanding the "Dark"

The important thing to understand is that "dark summoner" doesn't automatically translate to "evil." My boyfriend, let's call him "Asher," explains it as a form of...interdimensional communication. He's not summoning malevolent beings to wreak havoc; he's connecting with entities that exist on different planes of existence, some benevolent, some…less so. Think of it like amateur archaeology, but instead of digging up pottery shards, he's interacting with ethereal beings.

It's a hobby, a passion, a…well, it's complicated. And yes, sometimes things go wrong.

When Things Go Wrong (And They Do)

There have been mishaps. A misplaced spell once resulted in a swarm of iridescent butterflies that took three days to clear from the apartment. Another time, a somewhat disgruntled earth elemental decided to rearrange our furniture (apparently, he didn't appreciate the minimalist aesthetic). But mostly, it's manageable, if slightly chaotic.

Love in the Age of Interdimensional Entities

Despite the…unique circumstances, Asher is incredibly kind, intelligent, and fiercely protective. He's also incredibly patient with my constant barrage of questions and occasional fits of existential terror. Our relationship isn't conventional, not by a long shot. But conventional isn't always exciting, or fulfilling.

Am I concerned? Absolutely. Do I sometimes question my sanity? Yes, very much so. But I'm also learning to embrace the bizarre, the unpredictable, and the sheer audacity of loving someone who talks to shadows.

Maybe this isn't a typical love story. But it's my love story, and for now, at least, it's pretty fascinating. And who knows? Maybe someday I'll learn to summon my own grumpy shadow creature. Just maybe not in the apartment. The furniture still hasn't quite recovered from last time.
